After registering for a test, you will likely not hear from the test chair until a few days to a week before test day when they send out the test schedule. This information may be sent via entryeeze and show only your skater’s warm-up and test time(s), or it may be sent directly from the club’s test chair and show the entire day’s schedule.
Plan to be at the rink at least 30 minutes prior to your group’s warm-up time. Better yet, arrive at least 60 minutes early as tests sometimes run early. You don’t want to be running in at the last minute. You’ll also want to leave plenty of time for an off-ice warm-up since the on-ice warm-up will only be about five minutes.
Work with your coach before test day to establish a brief warm-up routine that you can practice ahead of time. Then practice it at the beginning of every practice session until your test. This will help prepare you both physically and mentally for the test.
The skaters will be grouped by the test they are taking, generally in groups of five to seven skaters. Skaters may be grouped with skaters testing one level higher or one level lower than their test. The grouping depends entirely on how many skaters are testing at each level.
