Rink Closure

SCMIA will be closed for maintenance during July. Sunday, June 29th will be the last day of operation prior to closure. The goal is for all maintenance to be completed by the end of the month. Keep an eye out here, on our Facebook page, and on the SCMIA Facebook page for announcements about re-opening.

Summer Luau – Saturday, July 19, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Mark your calendars! Join us for an evening of friends and fun while we enjoy some swimming and snacks! CFSC is hosting a summer luau at the Little Creek Pool for some fun in not-frozen water. Members and non-swimmers are free, and additional family members are $2 per person. Please RSVP if you plan to attend and bring an appetizer or dessert to share.

SCMIA Skating Camp – Monday, June 9 – Friday June 13, 9 am – 12:00 pm

The South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena will be hosting the first skating camp of the summer before the ice goes down. Come join us for a fun week at the Summer Fun Beach Camp. Each camp includes ice skating lessons with CFSC’s coaches and advanced skaters and an arts and crafts activity each day. Campers will have the opportunity to develop their very own skating program which they can showcase for friends and family at the end of the week at the show on Friday morning. Six of our skaters spent the first weekend of May at two different competitions. Lillian J. went to the Central Carolina Skating Classic in Hillsborough, NC and brought home silver in Intermediate Emotional Performance and gold in Intermediate Lyrical Pop.

Meanwhile, Avery A., Kinzleigh C., Maggie M., Sophia N., and Addy P. represented CFSC at the Three Rivers Spring Skate in Pittsburgh, PA. Avery earned bronze in the Level 3 Jump Challenge, Sophia earned silver in both the Level 2 Spin Challenge and Level 2 Compulsory Moves, and Addy earned silver in Aspire 1 Girls Free Skate. Well done, ladies!!

Three skaters attended the Metro Indy Skating Challenge in Carmel, IN at the end of last month as well and brought home all kinds of medals! Kinzleigh C. placed 1st in Novice Lyrical Pop and Novice Choreographic Artistry. Lillian J. placed 1st in Intermediate Lyrical Pop and 2nd in Intermediate Emotional Performance. Johie S. place 1st in Intermediate Emotional Performance and Intermediate Comedic Impression and 2nd in Intermediate Character Performance.

In addition, Emily M. attended the Cardinal Classic in Woodbridge, VA the same weekend, placing 3rd in Novice Women Excel and improving her series score by six point. Good job, ladies!
