August 2025
Rink Closure
As of our last update from SCMIA, the rink is on track to re-open on Monday, August 4th. Hopefully, everyone was able to either take a relaxing break or find other rinks to skate at during our break. See you all back on the ice soon!
Summer Luau Pool Party – Saturday, August 16, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The bad news is that our July pool party got rained out after only 15 minutes. The good news is that we were able to reschedule it! Join us for an evening of friends and fun at the Little Creek Pool while we enjoy some swimming and snacks! Members and non-swimmers are free, and additional family members are $2 per person. Please RSVP if you plan to attend – even if you RSVP’d to the original date, please RSVP again – and bring an appetizer or dessert to share.
Virtual Test Session
We held another virtual test session last month in which several of our skaters participated. The session registration included 15 minutes of ice time for filming, which worked out great for all involved. We expect to continue hosting virtual test sessions throughout the year, so keep an eye out if you’re getting ready to test!
SCMIA Family Drive-In Movie Night – Friday, August 29, 7:00 pm
The South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena is hosting a drive-in movie night on Friday, August 29th featuring Lilo & Stitch. Activities include ice skating for $6 and ice bumper cars for $5 starting at 7:00 pm. The movie – Lilo & Stitch – will begin at dusk and is free. Bring the whole family for a night of fun, laughter, and Disney magic!
Learn to Skate Sessions
The first Learn to Skate session of the season is upon us! This first session runs 5 weeks beginning the weekend of August 23/24 and running through the weekend of September 20/21. Visit our Learn to Skate page for more information about this program.
Congratulations!!

Kinzleigh C., Lillian J., and Johie S. participated in the National Showcase in Rochester, MI at the end of July and beginning of August. Kinzleigh competed in Novice Lyrical Pop and Novice Choreographic Artistry.
