Plans for our Spring Show are well underway. The theme is A Night on the Red Carpet, which includes songs from your favorite movie or someone on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board in the club locker room, and the deadline to sign up is Sunday, May 4th.
Please bear in mind the following rules for programs:
- Each skater may perform one program (solo, duet, trio, etc.) as well as their coach’s program
- Graduating seniors may perform in one additional program (solo, duet, trio, etc.)
- In order to perform a solo program, skaters must be at Pre-Freeskate level or higher
- Skaters below this level may perform in a duet, trio, small group, etc.
The maximum allowed lengths for programs will be based on the skater’s level as follows:

Graduating Seniors
We have two graduating seniors this year: Elle S. and Sarah S.
Elle is graduating from George Washington High School and will be going all the way to the west coast to attend UCLA for her undergraduate studies.
Sarah is also graduating from Geroge Washington High School, but she will be staying a little closer to home, attending Miami University in Ohio where she plans to continue her skating journey.
Please visit our Member Recognition page to find out more about these two amazing young women. Congratulations, ladies! We wish you the best and hope to see you during breaks!
Rink Closure
SCMIA will be closed for maintenance during June. The goal is for all maintenance to be completed by the end of the month. Keep an eye out here, on our Facebook page, and on the SCMIA Facebook page for announcements about re-opening.
Virtual Test Session
CFSC held our first-ever virtual test session last month, and it was quite a success. We kept it small, since it was our first, with two skaters submitting five tests between them – and all of them passed!
We are planning to host another virtual test session before our rink closes in June. Talk to your coach if you think you’d like to participate so we can start planning. Stay tuned for more details.
Congratulations!!
Three of our skaters spent a long weekend in Tennessee last month at Skate Nashville, and everyone brought home medals! Lily K. earned silver in open juvenile women, Emily M. earned gold in Excel novice women, and Gracie P. earned gold in Aspire 2 girls free skate. Well done, ladies!!
Two skaters attended the Spring Fling in Lakewood, OH at the end of last month as well: Kinzleigh C. and Emily M. Emily placed 2nd in the novice women’s short program and 1st in Excel novice women. Good job!
We’ve also had several skaters pass tests last month. Kinzleigh C. passed all three of her Silver Solo Pattern Dances – the American Waltz, the Tango, and the Rocker Foxtrot. Now on to the Pre-Gold dances!
Emily M. passed the last two dances she needed to finish her Pre-Gold Solo Pattern Dances – the Blues and the Starlight Waltz. She is moving on to the Gold dances.
Last, but not least, Johie S. passed her Rocker Foxtrot, one of the Silver Pattern Dances. Well done!
