The clothing a skater wears will be different for different purposes: Practice, Testing, and Competition. However, some basic guidelines apply to all skating apparel.
- Clothing should be form-fitting to the body. Loose clothing can be hazardous as skates can get caught in them causing an injury.
- Outfits should be comfortable; they will be worn for hours at a time (especially practice outfits) and you don’t want any distractions in the form of discomfort.
- Dress in layers in order to stay at a comfortable temperature throughout the skating session. Temperatures in the rink vary from day to day and rink to rink.
